PTAH AND KING RAMSES II
The Creator God Ptah (to the right) grasps the king’s hand and leads him forward. The king and god are the same size, and thus the message is clear: behold two gods.
The Egyptians regarded their king as the son of a god who was put on earth to rule Egypt and the rest of the world. The statue is not political propaganda, rather a magic incantation invoking the god to accept the king as his son and the rightful ruler of Egypt.
