WordPress Portfolio

WordPress is my friend.

For my WordPress portfolio I have chosen an Impulse theme created by antthemes. Impulse theme is a very simple and clear theme, which allows me to communicate my work clearly and easily.

I worked a lot with the structure of the portfolio and castomized the whole theme to my need.

Visual expression

I am an intermediate user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I started to learn Adobe programs two years ago and continue today my development in this area with a great pleasure.

Illustrator has a great power.

Particularly I am very fond of Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator is a powerful software program with almost unlimited possibilities within vector graphics, which makes possible to create all forms of vector art. Adobe Illustrator vector graphic environment is easily used with other Adobe Creative programs, which makes it easy to copy and paste the content from one program to another.

Color choice

In my theme I used shades of two main colors: blue and red. I created four tins of blue starting with a dark blue, then dark turquoise color and moving toward grey-shade light blue color. The two tins of red are starting with coral color and ending with a deep wine color.

Color plays a pivotal role in our visual experiences.

Colorcom

Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence and intelligence.

Dark blue is associated with depth, expertise, and stability.

Light blue is associated with understanding and softness.

Dark turquoise represents technology and mass communication.

I have chosen blue color as a main color because blue is good to suggest precision when promoting high-tech products.

Red symbolizes power, romance and energy.

Reds evoke highly charged emotions such as aggression or love. Red makes us pay attention and catches our eye immediately.

I use reds on items that need to grab attention.

CSS

I love CSS

The knowledge that I gained throughout the first month of studing Multimedia Design and Communication I used to change the stylesheet in my WordPress theme. By doing so I have changed the look of my Portfolio website completely.

Learning HTML and CSS was definitely a challenge for me, but after one month hard work and practise I managed to gain enough knowledge in order to create my first website.

I was challenged by this task since both the mark-up language for creating web pages - HTML5 - and the style sheet language for designing the look of the web page – CSS - are both completely new to me.
